Recent Research Trip for St. J. and L.C.

Recently I took a 400-mile trip back to my childhood surroundings back in time 50-60 years. It solved one of my major problems.

Though it has been long gone and the 90+ mile track turned into a bicycle path, there was one feature I went all that way to find some trace of by talking to those who remember.

Was there in fact a tunnel that bore the trains west from theSt. Johnsbury, VT railroad yard?

Yes, my recollection from that time was accurate. They did use a train-sized steel culvert to take the steam engines and cars under Crow Hill.

The lady at the library remembered strolling through that culvert as a child. Since the line is closed, I don't believe this will get her in trouble.
