Australian Lusitania Modeler
Gets Answers To Color Questions

The sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 off southern Ireland was probably as much of a surprise to the U-Boat captain who fired the fatal torpedo as to anyone else. Much of the mystery has been scuttled through dives to the wreckage in the last couple of decades, including what she looks like today.

What is the color of the Cunard Line’s Lusitania today after 95 years at the bottom? Were any of the original black and white colors visible. That is what Australian modeler Wolfgar Heidenreich wanted to know.

To help him with an answer I needed to pick apart a film depicting a search to solve the mystery of the Lusitania’s sinking. This is a feat a single torpedo wouldn’t have accomplished.

The above images wered clipped from an hour-long film depicting the mysteries surrounding the sinking of the Lusitania almost a century ago.
