Painting Victory's stern
by Gary May
Tricky paintbrush maneuvering
I'm currently building a Plastic model of HMS Victory, and am finding it difficult to paint the stern area ( lots of windows ).
Do you have any suggestions for me which would help in this matter, have only tried using a paint brush so far !!!
Your help in this matter is much appreciated.
SMH Responds: Been there, done that. Painting that black outline is pretty natty work. I picked up 2-3 of Michael's finest paintbrushes to give me as much room as possible. I have also found cutting a swimming pool noodle into pieces and strapping a couple of them into a makeshift drydock will help hold the model steady (an effective third hand).
I would recommend using an acrylic black (also at Michael's) and having a washcloth and water at the ready to blot your smears off the gold.
Good luck, I know at 71, I won't be trying it again.
