I'm a retired guy with more time on my hands than I knew what to do with.
I've always loved building things with my hands and was an avid RC aircraft builder/flier. Then I got into model railroading.
I've built a few buildings from balsa for my HO scale layout, but I find that working in 1/4" to the foot (O Scale) is much easier and provides a lot more enjoyment for me.
I built my first log cabin about a year ago for HO Scale and it was cute but very tiny. Then I moved up to 1/4" to the foot and have never looked back.
The pictures submitted are of a cabin I just completed. I hand carve/shape each piece of wood, use India Ink and rubbing alcohol to make my wood stains and work from my own, hand drawn plans. To hold everything together I use cyanoacrylate adhesives. It is important to stain your wood BEFORE using superglue because stain will not penetrate any glue that is on the surface.
I truly hope you enjoy the pictures of my Little House on the Prairie type log cabin.
If anyone has any questions for me about modeling these "little houses" please feel free to write to me at:
