One of the co-stars in this sea going epic said two
years ago, "there are like 21 books of Master and Commander, and Fox
already own the ship so a lot of people, I think were confused as to why
there hasn't been a sequel yet. We'll just have to wait and see. There is
talk of it and Peter Weir said that I won't die in the next one, but he
said I will die in the third one. So I've still got another movie, and
then I've got a death scene! So great! I do hope they make some more as I
had great fun making that film."
A third party encounter with Russell Crowe was
reported in a Los Angeles Blog. Al Sorkin and Crowe a discussed the
project a few months back aboard ship, docked in the San Diego Maritime
Museum. Al was an extra and technical advisor on "Master and Commander."
Al chatted with Crowe a bit and then attended a local concert with him...
"He is definitely interested in a sequel.
There is also considerable work being done on the rig
(HMS Surprise) to make her re-seaworthy. Ratlines (polyprope) are being
replaced (I think with roblon). The Headrig has more saftey lines being
run out. And there is a lot of clean up below deck. It was amazing what
was left in the fridge freezer. Russell indicated that though Peter Weir
is not interested in doing another that possibly a different director
would work it out. It would include more land shots and thus can develop
the espionage angles and the romance angles." |

It has been conjectured that the Master and Commander
sequel will be from the Patrick O'Brian book "Post Captain":, actually
Book 2 of the series.
"We've beat them before and we'll beat them again."
In 1803 Napoleon smashes the Peace of Amiens, and Captain Jack Aubrey, R.
N., taking refuge in France from his creditors, is interned. He escapes
from France, from debtor's Prison, from a possible mutiny, and pursues his
quarry straight into the mouth of a French-held harbor.
Stay tuned, we'll let you know when to get the
tickets and popcorn. |
